GIGSO Interim Elections: 18th November
Several of the Council members will leave Georgetown at the end of the semester. As per GiGSO's Constitution, the yearly elections, when all positions are up for grabs, take place in March of each year. However, to fill the place of those leaving, the following positions will open on an interim basis (those elected will serve 1 January - 31 March, 2010): President (1), Vice President (1), Social Events Director (1), Formal Events Director (2).
Then, in March, regular elections will be held and all positions will open (President (1), Vice President (1), Secretary (1), Treasurer (1), Social Events Directors (2), Formal Events Directors (2), PR Officer (1), Education and Welfare Officer (1) - although the latter is a post-Constitutional addendum to the organization). The newly elected Council then serves from 1 April, 2010 until the elections in March 2011.
We especially encourage first-year international graduate students to run for positions in GiGSO. Working on the Council is fun and a great experience for the future!
The elections will be held at 6:15 pm on November 18. Please look out for the e-mail announcing the location.
GiGSO Sunday Brunch: 22nd November
On Sunday, 22 November at 12 noon we will be hosting a GiGSO Brunch at Chadwick's on K Street. If you have had a long night, need to re-fill your energy levels or just want to meet some fellow international folks on the weekend, please join at this GiGSO-subsidized event!

GiGSO Careers Workshop: 2nd December
Want to know more about job opportunities after graduation? Interested in hearing about common areas of work, time periods for application and advice on when to start? Unsure about what rules apply when you graduate? Here is a helpful info session for you.
In Collaboration with the Georgetown Public Policy Institute (GPPI) career services and OIP, GIGSO is organizing a Career Workshop to help answer these questions and any other you may have.
